The Promised Neverland Manga (Japanese: 約束のネバーランド 漫画, Hepburn: Yakusoku no Nebārando Manga) is a Japanese manga series written by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu. It was serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 2016 to June 2020, with its chapters collected in 20 tankōbon volumes. In North America, Viz Media licensed the manga for English release and serialized it in their digital Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.
The Promised Neverland (TPN) Manga series follows a group of orphaned children, Emma, Norman and Ray. They are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. Under the care of the woman they call “Mom,” all the kids were enjoying a comfortable life. Delicious food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn— what more could an orphan ask for?
Their daily lives involve rigorous tests, but afterwards, they are allowed to play outside. One day, Emma and Norman discover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden to see. After discovering the dark truth behind their existence and the orphanage’s purpose: they are all livestock, and the orphanage is a farm to cultivate food for a mysterious race of demons. To change their predetermined fate, the children must plan to escape from this horrifying orphanage.
